These magnesium anode rods are more effective than aluminum alternatives in attracting corrosive elements, preventing tank corrosion and prolonging the water heater's lifespan. The anode rod extends the life of the water heater by attracting harmful elements in the water. If the rod becomes depleted or fully corroded, the water heater tank may begin to rust, crack, fail, and leak. This magnesium anode rod measures 4.5 inches (115mm) in length, has a 0.5 inch (13mm) diameter, and features 1/2 inch threads. Designed to fit standard water heaters.
